Sea Ice Analysis
The goals of this sub-contract with the Greenland Institute of Natural Resources (GINR) are;
1. Ongoing analysis of sea ice in relation to polar bear location data:
– Compute sea ice parameters around synthetic locations within polar bear home ranges
– Make graphical products as needed
– Write up procedures for use in publications
2. Analysis of sea ice in connection with pilot survey of polar bears in May-June 2010:
– Make maps of sea ice with bear positions plotted
– Compute areal coverage of sea ice of different concentrations
3. Analysis of sea ice in Baffin Bay and Kane Basin in support of aerial survey of polar bears in 2011:
– Make maps of sea ice in Baffin Bay and Kane Basin for April-May-June 2006-2010
– Compute areal coverage of sea ice of different concentrations
