Week One
We were excited to arrive on ice after a prolonged wait in Christchurch. A beautiful and smooth flight brought us to McMurdo. Finally, we made it! Our first days on ice were spent learning many new skills in many trainings (~20). Highlights for the team were the sea ice safety-, snowmobile-, and pistenbully training. When not in training we were setting up our lab and generally doing everything we could to get out on the ice as soon as possible to start with our reconnaissance work. We had a productive field plan risk assessment meeting on Thursday and are looking forward to our first week setting up sampling sites within three different areas in McMurdo Sound. Attached are some pictures from our first week!
